Technical Program Manager

Job Introduction

The person playing the role should have a technical background but also have great project management skills to manage programs of work. This is a very complex role requiring many interdisciplinary skills. This role coordinates projects across many teams who all have stakes in a technical project. This person requires a technical background because they need to understand and traverse technical dependencies, work very closely with deeply technical people and at the same time manage the roadmap and often non-technical stakeholders to ensure teams are on track.

The Program Manager identifies core technology needs required to grow our business and takes direct project management responsibility for specific enterprise projects. This candidate possesses the leadership and communication skills to drive medium to large scale projects in the organization.

Role Responsibility

  • Learns and understands the intricacies of the Primary platform and software
  • Identifies resources / work streams and assigns responsibilities
  • Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Demonstrates client-facing management skills, both large and small.
  • Executes work in fast paced environment
  • Leads internal work streams
  • Manages the day to day operation aspects of a project and scope
  • Reviews deliverables prepared by the team before passing the information to the client
  • Effectively enforces project standards
  • Manages the project meetings along with communicating to the Project Stakeholders
  • Minimizes exposure and project risks
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately
  • Tracks and reports on team hours and expenses
  • Manages project budget and client satisfaction

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 + years' experience managing Information Technology enterprise projects
  • Experience in the insurance industry
  • 2-3 years leading medium to large scale cross-functional projects
  • Good communications skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of technology methodologies
