Clinical Governance Lead (6 months fixed term)

Job Introduction

The post holder is responsible for contributing to and where applicable leading on the development of robust systems for clinical governance, quality and compliance across the Bupa Global Business Unit. The outcome of this purpose will be, in collaboration with the BGMU Medical Director, the development of an overarching Clinical Governance and Quality Strategy with clinical risk/governance metrics that are reportable in a specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and trackable way and  in the service of Bupa’s purpose of longer, happier and healthier lives.

Role Responsibility

Assist in the development of a Clinical Governance and Quality Framework.

Responsible for the BGMU management of the Global Complaints and Incident Management system and training of users in Bupa Global.

Root cause analysis of identified operational, safety and governance issues and then work with clinical staff throughout the regions with responsibility for clinical governance and regional Clinical Leads to develop plans to address problems.

In collaboration with the Risk & Compliance Team responsible for the operational management of the clinical risk register.

Support the medical teams work with the claims function, investigating and reviewing high cost claims to control costs and be financially sustainable.

Review clinical governance and quality modules of provider and service partner contracts.

Support in the implementation of the Clinical Risk/Incident Framework.

Responsible for the management and co-ordination of the Clinical Governance Forum.

Nurture key relationships and maintain networks internally and externally, including national and international networks.

The Ideal Candidate

A thorough understanding of clinical governance, quality and best practice in a healthcare setting, with the ability to transform concepts into activities in a regulatory environment. Proven track record of achievement in this to be produced on request.

Previous international insurance or commercial experience is desirable and in so demonstrating successful management of both internal and external stakeholders to be produced on request

Previous experience of undertaking healthcare clinical governance and risk projects is essential and the post holder should keep a portfolio of these to be produced on request

An in depth understanding of the world wide regulatory frameworks for service provision, maintenance of this understanding should form part of CPE

Knowledge of Bupa Global is highly desirable.

Working experience of the private and/or public sectors healthcare delivery environments is highly desirable.
